Barons Rothschild Reserve Pauillac. The Réserve Spéciale Pauillac is made primarily from a blend that combines wines from properties in the Pauillac appellation. It is created with the greatest possible respect for tradition, in a similar style to the Châteaux wines, but for more immediate drinking.

Wine type: red wine, Bordeaux - Reserve Special Pauillac - Domaine Barons de Rothschild.

Vintage and alcohol content: 2014 - 12,5°

Region: Carruades, Saint Estéphe - France.

Grape/blend: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot.

Type soil: soil made up of fine deep gravel, mixed with aeolian sand on a subsoil of tertiary limestone.

Colour: intense ruby.

Aroma: subtle and elegant, with scents of dried fruit (figs), black pepper and woody notes (cocoa powder).

Tasting notes: a powerful, finely structured wine, with well-integrated tannins and a long aromatic finish (black pepper, liquorice).

Serving suggestions: perfect with grilled meats, meat dishes with sauce and assorted cheese. Serving 16/18°C.

Si Please note that it is an offence to purchase or attempt to purchase alcoholic liquor if you are under the age of 18.

Editor's note: While the first known reference to Lafite dates to 1234 with a certain Gombaud de Lafite, abbot of the Vertheuil Monastery north of Pauillac, Lafite’s mention as a medieval fief dates to the 14th century. The name Lafite comes from the Gascon language term “la hite”, which means “hillock”. There were probably already vineyards on the property at the time when the Ségur family organised the vineyard in the 17th century, and Lafite began to earn its reputation as a great winemaking estate. Jacques de Ségur was credited with the planting of the Lafite vineyard in the 1670s and in the early 1680s. On 8 August 1868, Baron James de Rothschild purchased Château Lafite, which had been placed under public sale through the inheritance of Ignace-Joseph Vanlerberghe. Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac - Bordeaux - France.
