Piedmont - Roero - IT

Chris & Aaron is like a trip tale into the mind of a creative soul

Pedemontis, Jaiet, Langhe DOC Favorita. Favorita is a Piedmontese grape variety of which there are traces in Piedmont since 1600, when it is mentioned in the cellar records of the Counts Roero of Vezza and Guarene. In those documents, the Favorita is indicated with the name of favurie, testifying how much the vine was particularly appreciated. Historically, the grape of the Favorita vine derives from Vermentino, which is said to have left Spain to transit through France and then landed in Sardinia, and then also arrived in Liguria and Piedmont, in particular in Roero. Wine that, in the period dominated by the great noble families in Europe, had great success. Due to its nature, sensitive to vine diseases and cold temperatures, it started to be almost abandoned in the last decades. Today, Favorita is an elegant, expressive niche wine with a good aromatic persistence.

Type soil: typical sandy soil yields wines with particular elegance and finesse, delicately rich in aromas.

Colour: straw yellow color with greenish reflections.

Aroma: intense and fruity bouquet with notes of white flowers, peach and rennet apple.

Tasting notes: in the mouth it is fresh, with a pleasant complexity in the after-taste.

Serving suggestions: ideal as an aperitif. It goes well with fish appetizers, selfish, Russian salad and light fish-based first courses. Excellent with sushi.

Please note that it is an offence to purchase or attempt to purchase alcoholic liquor if you are under the age of 18.

Editor's note: Local and traditional varieties. We grow local and traditional varieties: Barbera and Nebbiolo for the reds; Arneis and Favorita for the whites. Varieties with centuries-old history, these have been brought back to life and reintroduced within the closed-cycle viticulture that we practice. The scent of the sands. Long ago, Roero was a coastal area, and this can still be seen in the large presence of sand mixed with limestone that forms the soils. Even today, it is easy to find fossils of shells, small fish and phyllites (fossilized leaves) with the naked eye: this is the sign of the shallow waters and lush coastal vegetation once present here. The soil in Roero is generally younger than the one found in the nearby Langhe. It is softer and more water absorbent, characteristics that endow wines with natural finesse.
