Toscana - Bolgheri - IT

Chris & Aaron is like a trip tale into the mind of a creative soul

Tenuta San Guido, Le Difese. Le Difese is named after the teeth of the wild boar which roam the Tuscan hills. Tenuta San Guido is not simply a collection of vineyards and winery but a place of complete immersion in nature. Before anyone had heard of Sassicaia wine, the estate was known as the base of the Razza Dormello Olgiata stud. Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta and his wife met through a shared love of horses and, teaming up with breeder Federico Tesio, they produced some of the greatest racehorses of the past century, including Ribot (winner of two Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes).).

Wine type: red wine IGT - Marchesi Incisa, Tenuta San Guido - Le Difese.

Alcohol content: 12,5°.

Region: vineyards in the municipalities Loc. Vecchio Frantoio - Bolgheri.

Grape/blend: 70% Cabernet, 30% Sangiovese.

Type soil: the vineyards are planted on plots of land with different and composite morphological characteristics, as well as with a strong presence of limestone. These areas are also rich in rocks and rather rich in clay and are located at an altitude between 100 and 300 meters above sea level, facing West, South/West.

Colour: ruby red.

Aroma: this is a very attractive and aromatic wine with vibrant blackberry fruit characters mingled with crushed flowers, wild herbs and a bright balsamic note.

Tasting notes: the palate is elegant and silky textured with a lovely freshness and fine length.

Serving suggestions: juicy red meat and mature cheeses. Serving 18°C.

Please note that it is an offence to purchase or attempt to purchase alcoholic liquor if you are under the age of 18.

Editor's note: Tenuta San Guido is named after the Saint Guido della Gherardesca who lived during the XI century. It is located on the Tyrrhenian coast, between Leghorn and Grosseto, in Maremma an area made famous by Italian Nobel prize winner Giosuè Carducci, and it stretches for 13 km from the sea to the hills.Three are its defining characteristics: the Sassicaia wine, the Razza Dormello-Olgiata thoroughbred stud-farm and the Bird Sanctuary Padule di Bolgheri.
