Chris & Aaron is like a trip tale into the mind of a creative soul

Tenuta San Guido, Guidalberto. Named after his ancestor, Guidalberto della Gherardesca, who was an agricultural pioneer in Bolgheri in the early 19th century, the estate’s second wine Guidalberto was born of a desire to explore how Merlot would grow in Tenuta San Guido. At first (2000 to 2003 vintages), the equation also included Sangiovese but it has settled into a 60% Cabernet Sauvignon 40% Merlot blend, which can be appreciated at a younger age than Sassicaia.

Wine type: dry red wine IGT - Marchesi Incisa, Tenuta San Guido - Guidalberto.

Alcohol content: 13°.

Region: vineyards in the municipalities Loc. Vecchio Frantoio - Bolgheri.

Grape/blend: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot.

Type soil: the vineyards are planted on plots of land with different and composite morphological characteristics, as well as with a strong presence of limestone. These areas are also rich in rocks and rather rich in clay and are located at an altitude between 100 and 300 meters above sea level, facing West, South/West.

Colour: ruby red.

Aroma: Guidalberto has great energy and length with an aroma of dark fruits and spices with nuances of violets, roses and a hint of tobacco.

Tasting notes: smooth textures and deep plum fruits combine with a crunchy redcurrant character and a hint of dark chocolate to create a wonderfully balanced wine with excellent definition. It will benefit from a year or two in bottle before drinking.

Serving suggestions: juicy red meat and mature cheeses. Serving 18°C.

Please note that it is an offence to purchase or attempt to purchase alcoholic liquor if you are under the age of 18.

Editor's note: Tenuta San Guido is named after the Saint Guido della Gherardesca who lived during the XI century. It is located on the Tyrrhenian coast, between Leghorn and Grosseto, in Maremma an area made famous by Italian Nobel prize winner Giosuè Carducci, and it stretches for 13 km from the sea to the hills.Three are its defining characteristics: the Sassicaia wine, the Razza Dormello-Olgiata thoroughbred stud-farm and the Bird Sanctuary Padule di Bolgheri.
